Global Alliance Nomination Committee Report 2026 Executive Board Elections

Communication Management bylaws (Board Director Nominations & Nomination Committee) outlines the role and duties undertaken by the Nomination Committee in reviewing nominations received and the process for the election of members to the Executive Board, as conducted by the General Assembly.

The Committee has carried out its work with the aim of ensuring that the Global Alliance nomination process is transparent, open and fair.

The Nomination Committee reviewed all candidacies based on the following criteria:

  • To reflect the diversity of Global Alliance (geographic, cultural, and gender balance)
  • To engage directors committed to the profession and willing to serve as volunteers
  • To gather different profiles (practitioners and academics) to reflect the dimensions of the profession
  • To assess the contribution and experience of candidates applying for election or re-election

Nomination Committee 2026

The Nomination Committee was appointed by the Global Alliance Executive Board in compliance with its bylaws and chaired by Jaffri Amin Osman, Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM), Asia Pacific with committee members Claire Ryan, Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS), North America and Irene Lungu Chipili, Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication (ZIPRC), Africa. No member of the Nomination Committee is standing for election in 2026.

Open Positions

  • Treasurer (1) for a two-year term to 30 June 2028
  • Delegate-at-Large (1) representing a National Association for a two-year term to 30 June 2028
  • Delegate-at-Large (1) representing Academic/Research for a two-year term to 30 June 2028
  • Delegate-at-Large (1) representing any membership category for a two-year term to 30 June 2028
  • Regional Delegates-at-Large (12) for a one-year term to 30 June 2027

These regional positions are designed to facilitate representation of continents, regions and sectors within the communication profession.

Status of Current Board Positions

The Committee notes that several Board positions are currently mid-term and not subject to election in 2026, including:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Immediate Past Chair
  • Secretary
  • Selected Delegate-at-Large positions across categories

Positions reaching end of term in June 2026 and therefore open for nomination include:

  • Treasurer
  • Selected Delegate-at-Large positions
  • Regional Delegate-at-Large positions

Process & Compliance

All nominations:

  • Were submitted by Global Alliance members in good standing
  • Met eligibility requirements as outlined in the call for nominations
  • Included required supporting documentation The Committee ensured that:
  • The process remained fair, transparent and inclusive
  • Candidates reflected a balance of geography, expertise and professional background
  • Both continuity and renewal within the Board were considered

Conclusion

The Nomination Committee is satisfied that the slate of candidates presented provides a strong and diverse pool of leaders to support the continued growth and development of the Global Alliance.
