This month, Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (Global Alliance) is celebrating Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI).
DEI is essential to the integrity and future of public relations and communication. Communication professionals work within varied communities, cultures, governments and different types of organisations. Global Alliance recognises that DEI principles are being challenged across regions. With political pushback in some countries and cuts in resources for DEI initiatives in others.
Global Alliance adopted the Global Diversity, Equality, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Policy Framework aimed at supporting the development of practical DEI policies and initiatives while allowing for regional flexibility and cultural adaptation. Through this framework, Global Alliance reaffirms its commitment to DEI across the global communication profession offering guidance and structure for all member organisations.
To celebrate and advance the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion, Global Alliance will undertake the following activity:

Objective: To equip communication professionals with information on the Global Alliance DEI Framework as an actionable tool needed to embed equitable practices in their organisations and society. The DEI Framework will be discussed, and panellists will be selected through Regional Councils to share insights on DEI. This session is expected to generate more awareness on the DEI in general and specifically, the Global Alliance DEI Framework to motivate its implementation to strengthen their own DEI programmes, or to begin building them where needed.

Speakers and Moderator Bio
Dr. Nia Sarinastiti MA, IAPR is a is a communications practitioner specializing in organizational communications, corporate communications and marketing communications with more than 30 years of work experience. She is currently the Supervising Board for the Indonesian Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (IBCWE) – an Investing in Women Initiative, and the Global Building Performance Network in Indonesia.
She led the Accenture Indonesia Inclusion & Diversity team in 2013 – 2018 and was the lead for Accenture Development Partnerships Indonesia in 2019. Since 1993, she is also senior lecturer at the Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia School of Communication and the Graduate Program at the Department of Communication, University of Indonesia. She received her Master of Arts from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 1992 and a Doctoral degree from University of Indonesia in 2004. She conducted a Post Doctorate program at the Center for Digital Future, University of Southern California in 2017. She obtained a Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies executive certification from the University of Cambridge – Judge Business School (2022).
Inimfon Etuk, mnipr, is a Public Relations and Strategic Communications professional with specialty in Development Communications. Her trademark skill is in helping others nurture good ideas into real opportunities. Founder, She Forum Africa, a pan-africa Women Development, Advocacy and Inter-generational Co-Leadership Community founded in 2013 and now operating East, West and Southern Africa Regional Hubs including a Diaspora Hub, she is a recipient of the Women Economic Forum (WEF) 2019 Global Award for “Iconic Woman Creating a Better World”.
Prof. Tevhide Serra Gorpe is a professor of communication at the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Relations and Advertising from Istanbul University, a Master’s degree in Public Relations from Boston University, USA, and a Master’s degree in Social Psychology from Boğaziçi University, Türkiye.
She has also held adjunct teaching positions at several institutions including University of Texas, Eastern Mediterranean University, Istanbul Bilgi University, the European University of Lefke, İzmir University of Economics, TC Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University, and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.
Her research focuses on public relations, strategic communication, communication education, international public relations, crisis management, health communication, and corporate responsibility/sustainability. Dr. Gorpe has industry experience in both corporate roles and public relations agencies prior to joining academia. She has held several professional memberships and roles with the Turkish Public Relations Association (TUHID), European Public Relations Education and Research Association (EUPRERA), International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (Global Alliance).

Jennifer Muir is a respected for-purpose leader, advocate and strategic adviser with more than 25 years’ experience in population and women’s health, mental health, and human rights. She advises Boards and senior leaders throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region and serves as a Board Member for the Global Alliance and the Australian Women’s Electoral Lobby. Jennifer is also a Fellow of Communication and Public Relations Australia, following five years as National President.
