SHAPE #NextInLine: Your Seat. Your Voice. Your Future.
The starting line for public relations and communication is changing.
As artificial intelligence reshapes the profession, students and young practitioners need more than technical skills. They need judgment, ethical confidence, stakeholder insight and opportunities to make their voices heard.
This October, the Global Alliance’s Student and Young Practitioners Month puts that challenge centre stage through SHAPE #NextInLine and its call to action: “Your Seat. Your Voice. Your Future.”
The message is clear: the next generation should help shape the profession it will lead.
The programme focuses on two urgent conversations. “Shape Your Career in an AI-Driven World” examines how students and emerging practitioners can build and demonstrate their value as entry-level roles evolve. Using new tools is only part of the equation. Critical thinking, ethical decision-making and real-world experience matter just as much.
“Shape the Future: Your Voice at the Policymaking Table” explores how students and young professionals can contribute to responsible communication. Their perspectives are essential to debates on misinformation, disinformation, transparency and AI governance—issues that will define their professional future.
Regional online editions will take place on 21 October for the United States, Canada and Latin America; 21 October for ASEAN, Oceania and India; and 22 October for Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Each session will bring local insight to these global challenges.
Educators, employers, professional associations, mentors and public relations and communication professionals all have a role to play. We can create meaningful opportunities, open doors, share our experience and listen to the perspectives of the next generation.
I invite the Global Alliance community to make this month a launchpad for stronger engagement with the next generation. Let us help young professionals claim their seat, use their voice and shape the future.
