The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing responsible and sustainable communication by celebrating the continued global momentum of The Roman Declaration on Green Communication Responsibility and announcing its official presentation to the African continent at the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Abuja, Nigeria.
In a letter to Danijel Koletić, CEO of APRIORI WORLD and one of the driving forces behind the Declaration, Global Alliance President & CEO Prof. Justin Green congratulated everyone involved in developing the initiative and reaffirmed the organisation’s strong support for its principles.
“The Roman Declaration represents a significant milestone in advancing sustainability and responsible communication within our profession,” Prof. Green said. “With members and partners representing more than 360,000 public relations and communication professionals across 126 countries, Global Alliance is fully committed to promoting, advocating for, and supporting its implementation worldwide.”
Global Alliance’s commitment to the Declaration has been marked by several important milestones:
- 28 January 2026 – Global Alliance became a signatory to The Roman Declaration on Green Communication Responsibility in Rome, Italy.
- 7 April 2026 – The Declaration was presented to and endorsed by the Global Alliance Board of Directors.
- 22 May 2026 – The Declaration was formally adopted by the Global Alliance Annual General Meeting in Prague, Czech Republic, becoming an official policy position of the organisation.
The next major milestone will take place during the 2026 World Public Relations Forum, to be held in Abuja, Nigeria, from 16–21 November 2026, where Danijel Koletić will officially present and launch the Declaration to the African continent.
The presentation will introduce the Declaration to communication professionals, organisations, institutions, and policymakers across Africa, highlighting its role in promoting ethical, responsible, and environmentally sustainable communication practices.
The launch forms part of an international programme featuring world leaders and distinguished speakers, including H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of Nigeria (Chief Host); H.E. Hakainde Hichilema, President of Zambia; Melissa Fleming, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications; Samuel Heath, Director of Communications at INTERPOL; Mariya Gabriel, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information at UNESCO and former Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria; Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Chairman of the World Customs Organization Council; and Edith Jibunoh, Director of External Relations at the World Bank Group, alongside many other internationally recognised leaders and communication experts.
